Item Description
Increasingly hard-to-come-by, this wonderful example of an early to mid-twentieth century perpetual calendar is in excellent working order.
Forget all things digital – this beautiful piece is classically mechanical. Displaying day, date and month, it requires simply the turning of wooden spindles each day to track the passage of time. Timeless! Canvas rollers, seen through rounded apertures, are protected behind glass.
The piece has had some repairs to the overhanging corners on the cap where, over the one hundred or so years the calendar has been working, it has suffered damage. But the work does not detract from the appeal of this neat and timeless period-piece.
The calendar, probably dating from the 1920s or 1930s, measures c21cms high, 14cms wide and 8cms deep – perfect for any mantelpiece.
